Important Notice for AOL and CompuServ Users Only
Important Notice for AOL, Earthlink and CompuServ Users Only
If your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is AOL, Earthlink
or CompuServ, your login attempt to our e-mail server will
generate this error message "Session Timed Out: Log In
Again." To correct this problem, you must complete the
following steps:
- Check your desktop and see if there is a Netscape or Internet Explorer browser icon on the screen. If no, you must download
and install one of these browsers. [If yes, go to step 2, and
follow through on steps 3 and 4) or 5).]
- Connect to AOL or CompuServ network with your regular dialup
procedure.
To minimize your AOL or CompuServ browser by clicking on the
maximize/minimize box which included "_" and located at the top right
corner of the window.
- Open a Netscape or Internet Explorer new browser by
double-clicking the icon.
- For first Time to access our e-mail server with Netscape or Internet Explorer Users, follow these
steps:
- For Netscape users
- At the Netscape Menu bar,
select: Edit/Preferences...
- At Preferences/Category window, select: and
double click Advanced
- Select: Cache
- Select: Clear Memory Cache
@ Clear Memory Cache Message Display,
Select: OK
- Select: Clear Disk Cache
@ Clear Disk Cache Message Display,
Select: OK
- Select: OK to Exit Preferences
- For Internet Explorer (version 5.5
or less) Users, follow these steps:
- At the Internet Explorer Menu
bar, select: Tools/Internet Options...
- Select: Delete Files...
@Delete Files Message Display,
Select: OK
-
For Internet Explorer browser
(version is higher than 5.5), do the following:
- At the Internet Explorer Menu
bar, select: Tools/Internet Options...
- Select : Delete Cookies...
@ Delete Cookies Message Display,
Select: OK
- Select: Delete Files...
@ Delete Files Message Display,
Select: OK
-Select OK to exit the Internet Options
- Access our e-mail server by using your selected browser (Netscape or
Internet Explorer).
- Access to John Jay College's home page with URL -
http://www.jjay.cuny.edu
- Find "E-mail Access" under the label "Faculty and Staff"
and click it.
- Click a button - Click here to Login on new web page.
- Type in you userID and password then click Login
button.
- Also You can forward your mails from our email server to your
AOL or CompuServ's email mail account (See setting section in the
Brief Instruction).
